Things not to do at the office...
I promised to post these a while back but time
flies. The following pictures are all unofficial. They were
taken by a friend of a friend a few years ago during a static
test of a Titan solid rocket motor (Thanks Dave!). This incident
is of particular interest to me since my office at Edwards AFB
is only a couple of hundred feet from the test-stand. Keep in
mind the pictures are taken from a few miles away so the field
of view is a little bit over a mile across.

This shows the beginning of the motor
firing. My office (we were evacuated ;-) is about 200 feet behind
the motor stand.

Hmmmm.... Not a good sign!
Is it supposed to do that?
Ooh! Pretty!
At this point my office is well within
the fireball. Good thing we can't leave our windows open.
Fireball is roughly a quarter-mile across. I suggest
we seek shelter...
Some days are just too good not to
get up and enjoy :-)
